Благодаря новшествам в сфере компьютерной графики, и желанию художников сделать что-то новое, эффект морфинга и изменений обличий достиг высокого уровня. Появились программы для симуляций как Houdini, для рендера — Arnold, RendeMan, для композитинга — Nuke и многие другие. Появились понятия рей-трейсинга и карта среды для света и отражений.Многие эффекты сегодня сделалны в 3D, и с помощью моушн контроля и композитинга. Благодаря всем новшествам работа стала идти быстрее, сейчас можно создавать и изменять целые пространства и показывать это команде в течении дня, тогда как раньше на несколько сцен уходило по несколько месяцев.

Объекты которые деформируются при помощи магии, не всегда имеют под собой логику движений, они могут появляется из неоткуда, быть разных форм, размеров, цветов. Очень часто магия дополняется артефактами и слепками самого мага, в виде свечения и пыли, или каких-либо других артефактов принадлежащих магу/волшебнику. Они могут часто очеловечиваться, иметь характер и эмоции, как агрессия или наоборот радость. Трансформации имеющие под собой инопланетную природу могут иногда быть непонятными для зрителя, но часто являются как раз проводником для знакомства смотрящих с инопланетным миром.

С другой стороны механизмы, по своей сути, более логичны. Размеры объектов не могут превышать определенные масштабы и изменяться в цвете. Но у самих превращений всегда есть «характер» трансформации. Это добавляет истории в повествование. Очень важным же аспектом во всех трансформациях является сопровождаем ею звук, ни одна трансформация не обходится без звукового сопровождение которое очень часто тоже может раскрыть природу изменений или быть сигналом.
