Banshee’s Coven. Group History
In one of Челябинск’s bars, fate brought three women together. Each had come for a different reason. One was trying to numb the ache of a broken heart, another was seeking refuge from the disapproval of loved ones, and the third was simply lost in her own life, unsure of where to go next.
They sat at the same bar counter, sipping cocktails and lost in thought. Everything changed when a familiar tune started playing over the speakers—a melody sad, melancholic, and achingly familiar to all of them. It was as if the song voiced what none of the women dared to say aloud. They turned simultaneously, met each other’s eyes, and understood without words that something deeper than mere chance connected them.
Thus, a friendship was born—and with it, the Banshees Coven.
Group Composition
The group consists of three members whose real names remain a secret. Instead, they use pseudonyms behind which lie each of their own stories, pain, and dark sides:
Banshee is the vocalist, whose voice sounds like the death cry of a soul tearing itself apart between despair and rage. Circe is the synthesizer player, who creates hypnotic sonic landscapes filled with darkness, anxiety, and supernatural whispers. Hecate is the guitarist, whose heavy riffs evoke the pain that cannot be put into words.
In their creative work, Banshees Coven fuses witch house and heavy metal, weaving hypnotic electronic darkness with heavy guitar riffs and piercing female vocals. Their music sounds as if someone’s soul is desperately trying to tear itself free from their body, scratching from the inside out.
What makes us Witches?
What Makes Us Witches? — the debut album by Banshees Coven, which tells a cyclical story of a mystical circle dance—a ritual that becomes a metaphor for the life challenges and internal experiences of the band members.
Each composition unfolds a separate narrative and conveys the girls' unique feelings, fears, and pain. The album recounts what led them to the present moment, symbolizing their rebirth—the letting go of the past and transformation into something new.

Tracks
The opening composition of the album *What Makes Us Witches? * unveils a narrative of a mystical circle dance, symbolizing the commencement of the group members' rebirth. Hypnotic witch house, heavy doom metal riffs create the atmosphere of an ancient forest ritual. Three female voices intertwine in whispers, incantations, and screams, inviting the listener into a forbidden circle. The music conveys pain, despair, and the yearning to break free from the past, while the abrupt finale leaves the sense that the ritual is only just beginning.
The composition narrates the experience of one group member following the loss of a loved one, a death that left her alone with unrelenting pain and desperate longing. Melodic witch house intertwines with sorrowful guitar lines and hypnotic electronic rhythms, conjuring the atmosphere of a nocturnal cemetery. Piercing female vocals, spectral whispers, and banshee wails convey the heroine’s desire to hear her beloved’s voice once more—even if no one remains to answer her. The song transforms grief into a somber musical ritual, where love persists even as hope gradually yields to eternal darkness.
The composition conveys the lost feeling of one of the group’s participants, submerged in a dense fog of her own fears, guilt, and forgotten memories. Melancholic witch house, muted bass, ethereal guitar melodies, and anxious electronic textures create a sense of endless wandering within a nightmare. The fragile female vocals—stuttering breaths, whispers, and desperate screams—reflect her bewilderment and her attempts to find an exit from her internal labyrinth. The protagonist is haunted by a sense of guilt for something she cannot recall, and the fog only heightens her fear and disorientation.
The composition blends hypnotic witch house beats, a reverberating bass, and heavy, distorted guitar riffs, forging a suffocating atmosphere of despair that immerses the listener in the mood of a medieval witch hunt. A fragile, trembling female vocal gradually transitions into desperate screams, while the voices of other women sound like the judgmental whisper of society. The song portrays the projection of external fears and biases onto the heroine: people see her as a witch, reject and persecute her, until she begins to feel like an outsider among them herself. The track recounts the personal experience of one of the band’s members who was ostracized by those close to her.
The composition concludes the album *What Makes Us Witches? *, closing the story of the mystical circle dance that began it all. Hypnotic witch house, ghostly synthesizers, feminine whispers, and the laughter and screams of the Banshee create the atmosphere of an ancient ritual. The song symbolizes the rebirth of the participants, who, after enduring pain and rejection, leave the past behind and embrace their new selves. The fading music underscores the cyclical nature of the narrative: the ritual is complete, but a new cycle is inevitable.
