In my graduate work, I explore how to talk about art today and make its perception closer to modern reality. As a basis, I chose Ernst Gombrich’s book «History of Art», one of the most understandable and accessible introductions to visual culture.

I wanted to adapt this text to today’s reader: to make the publication compact, user-friendly and mobile. The book has a small format — 200×130×27 mm — that can be read not only at the table, as was usually the case with previous Russian-language publications, but also with it, open on the subway or on the road. This size was made possible by working with printing and illustrations. Most of the images in the book are very compact: there are no spindle reproductions, the largest are just the width of the strip, and part has been removed from the printing block at all. But it’s being filled in by the fact that the publication is supplemented by a website that opens up the material again. It can look at all images of high quality, take light game and educational tests, find additional materials from museum sites and art history resources, and open many works (and flat and sculptureal) in AR directly from their phone.
Here you can spill the book yourself.
