«Storm» Series

My graduation project is a set design for the performance of «The Tempest» by William Shakespeare. Because of this, I reviewed numerous materials related to the great playwright’s works. I was particularly captivated by Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s musical piece, «The Tempest,» a symphonic fantasy based on Shakespeare’s play.

I decided to create a small series of watercolor paintings inspired by this composition. It was important to me to show how the music is reflected in the colors—how the state of nature changes during such a severe weather event.

I chose to keep the drawing relatively abstract, intending to convey the emotions evoked by listening to the musical piece through artistic abstraction and washes of color.
