Concept
Ancient chess pieces, carved from the living stone of a forgotten fortress. Each piece—a steadfast guard, warrior, or knight—boasts massive, monolithic forms and medieval symbolism, bearing the indelible marks of time and conflict.
In the dark valleys of Elderglenn stood the Black Fortress—the last stronghold of the knights of the fallen King Arden. The defenders carved their likenesses directly into the castle walls, so they would stand guard even after death. These six figures—Pawn, Rook, Bishop, Knight, King, and Queen—vanished after the fortress fell and reappeared centuries later, half-buried in moss, yet unbroken in spirit.
Monolithic forms without delicate protruding elements, deep engraving for texture and obscuring printing layers, wide stable bases, and a proportional scale (King 75 mm). Suitable for resin, marble filament, or colored ceramics.

A knight mounted on a massive horse with an faceless head, bearing a shield engraved with a Celtic pattern. The cloak and saddle elements are fused with the horse’s body for structural integrity. The rough forms and asymmetry evoke a sense of ancient, handcrafted artistry.
