Dracula: A Love Tale — a film by director Luc Besson. The story of a count who loses his beloved Elizabeth in Romania in 1480, renounces God, and becomes a vampire. Centuries later, in late 19th-century Paris, he meets his love again. Does love remain love when it lasts for centuries and is fueled by vengeance?
The titles are built upon a continuous camera movement through objects from different eras: a candle, a music box, an hourglass, a spiral staircase. Thus, the viewer journeys through Dracula’s memory.
The main technique for the titles is seamless transitions from one object to another. The inscriptions are assembled from gold dust right within the frame. The gold dust and the red color bind the shots into a cohesive whole. The titles open with the warmth of a candle and rose petals, and in the finale, a red flourish completes the title.
