Concept
TP-01 — a collectible pocket device from the Tretia Planeta series, created as a three-dimensional extension of a custom typeface inspired by the novel «The Mystery of the Third Planet.»
At the core of the project is the image of a small research instrument from a retro-futuristic world. Through the object’s form, graphics, and details, the plastic language of the typeface is translated from a two-dimensional medium into a physical object.
The series unites the aesthetics of portable electronics, collectible toys, and fantastical research equipment.
Overview
TP-01 is a compact, pocket-sized device featuring a screen, physical buttons, and a top hook for attachment.
The silhouette is defined by a rectangular body with rounded corners and prominent modular components. Due to its small size and distinct design, the object is perceived simultaneously as a portable gadget and a collectible toy.
The series is available in four body colorways: green, clear gray, lavender, and graphite.
The dimensions of TP-01 are 110 × 75 × 28 mm.
The object has been designed as a compact, assembled structure without complex moving mechanisms. The main form is created by the front and rear housing sections, the screen, the buttons, and the top mounting element.
A single base construction is used for all four variants. Variations within the series are achieved through the housing color and the interface graphics.

Form and Detail
The TP-01 form is built upon a combination of soft curves, rectangular modules, and punctiform elements characteristic of Tretia Planeta typeface graphics.
The front face features a large screen, three square buttons, and clusters of circular apertures. Additional controls are situated on the side panels.
The upper tubular hook becomes part of the device’s recognizable silhouette, allowing the TP-01 to be used as a hanging fixture.
The geometry of the parts has been intentionally enlarged and simplified to maintain visual cohesion and to adapt the model for physical manufacturing.
Materials and Manufacturing Technologies
The main material for TP-01 is translucent plastic, allowing partial visibility of the internal casing structure.
The buttons are made of opaque colored plastic, and the screen is made of a smooth black material with a glossy finish.
The prototype will be created using 3D printing, followed by surface finishing and component assembly.
For future mass production, the design can be adapted for plastic injection molding.
The 3D model of TP-01 is created in actual scale and prepared taking into account the casing thickness, component dimensions, and the feasibility of subsequent physical manufacturing.
