CONCEPT
A series of illustrated bank cards inspired by Russian folk art, Gzhel ornament, and animal characters.
THE CHALLENGEBank cards are functional everyday objects, but their visual design often remains secondary to their practical purpose. The challenge was to create a series of cards that would feel personal and visually distinctive while still working as a recognizable VTB product. At the same time, the project needed to communicate a connection with Russian visual culture without simply reproducing traditional folk art in its original form.
THE SOLUTIONThe solution was to combine contemporary animal illustration with the visual language of Gzhel. Familiar animal characters become the central element of each card, while traditional floral ornaments are integrated directly into their shapes and compositions.A limited blue-and-white palette creates a strong connection with Gzhel and works naturally with VTB’s visual identity. The ornamental elements are not used as decoration alone — they become part of the characters, creating a unified relationship between the animal and its surroundings.
The White bird
Each card has its own character, pose, and composition, but the consistent palette, linework, and ornamental vocabulary connect the designs into one visual system.

FINAL PRESENTATION
The result is a collection of bank cards that transforms a functional everyday object into a recognizable piece of illustration and connects contemporary graphic design with Russian cultural heritage.
