COCON
2026 Mixed Media Materials: metal rod lampshade, biflex, silicone.150 × 70
The «Cocoon» piece reproduces the experience of birth. «Coming into the world» becomes the first ordeal for the embryo confined within its shell—the beginning of a struggle. It battles the walls that separate it from the outside world—a fight for the chance to be born. This is a metaphor for the inevitability of becoming human: the human essence and the flesh are constants that must be accepted.

Gaining experience contained within the shell of the fruit, it learns to cope with confinement and its own body while confronting the sharp wire of life’s circumstances. The object’s form evokes the human and the parasitic: the cocoon’s shell is hermetic, yet the fruit relies on an external source of nourishment and cannot sustain itself independently. It is a kind of hopeless imprisonment, where remaining in the cocoon strips away all freedom and enforces a dependency on another, and the struggle to escape this shell can turn into pain, suffering, or death. Thus, human nature combines fragility, genesis, parasitism, and unfreedom.
