Why do people hide things?
We hide the crystal ashtray because we are trying to mask our imperfect, «ashy» habits behind the beautiful, ceremonial facade of polished crystal. This object is a paradox: it is made of an absolutely transparent material, yet it is intended to hold what one wishes to conceal from public view.
