Concept
The concept behind this synthesizer is an association with Y2K aesthetics. I aimed to create music reminiscent of background tracks from video game menus, such as pixelated labyrinths or point-and-click adventures. I also wanted to capture the atmosphere of something urban and nocturnal—to convey the feeling a person experiences when stepping onto a neon-lit street. They realize they’ve left the noise behind, but the echoes of the crowd’s hum and the night party are still audible.

Sound
The synthesizer sound is built upon a combination of six audio tracks, each responsible for a specific aspect of the musical atmosphere. Low bass and percussion maintain the feeling of nightlife, while the synthesizer melodies and short electronic sounds transport the listener to the atmosphere of an old video game.

1. Each of the six components is presented in a separate control block. You have the ability to independently turn tracks on and off, adjust their volume, frequency, and playback speed. 2. The interface features a button at the top to start the sound of all elements. 3. The instrument’s structure is designed like a musical constructor: individual sound elements can be combined, altering the final sound and character of the composition.
Tool Style
The synthesizer’s visual style is rooted in the aesthetics of 2000s digital culture. It blends elements from vintage video games, neon urban environments, and the electronic device interfaces of that era.
Visual Characteristics:
1. Saturated orange, blue, and yellow hues that create a high-contrast, neon atmosphere
2. An image featuring VHS aesthetics, referencing analog media and the visual culture of the 2000s
3. A stylized, gaming-inspired typeface reminiscent of video game and digital interface design (reminiscent of GTA typography)
4. Translucent blue blocks creating a digital screen effect
For the code assistance, ChatGPT and Gemini were utilized. The neural network helped configure synthesizer and effect parameters. I chose the sound and the final composition, and I tested its integrity.
